Blood Knights
Sin'dorei Paladins wielding the Light to defend Quel'Thalas and quell their ancient hunger.
The Blood Knights are a militant order of Paladins comprised primarily of Sin'dorei, residing within the capital of Silvermoon City. Originally formed to combat the severe mana addiction plaguing their people after the Sunwell's corruption by Illidan Stormrage, they turned to the Light for strength but faced controversy over their initial methods. They represent a unique cultural intersection where Holy magic meets Blood Elf heritage. While they serve as defenders of Quel'Thalas alongside other Horde forces, their history is marked by a struggle between redemption and the dark legacy of fel energy that once defined their existence.

Lore & Background
Following the destruction of the Sunwell and Kael'thas's betrayal, the Blood Elves suffered a crippling addiction to arcane energy. The Blood Knights emerged as a solution, harnessing the power of captured souls and magic to sustain themselves while wielding the Light. Lady Liadrin, once a Priestess, became their figurehead, guiding them from controversial soul-harvesting practices toward a more traditional path of divine service. Over time, the order evolved into respected defenders of the Horde. After the Sunwell was restored and cleansed by Tyrande Whisperwind and her allies, the Blood Knights no longer needed to feed on others to maintain their power. They now draw upon the purified energies of the Sunwell, symbolizing the Sin'dorei's gradual recovery from their past sins while maintaining a distinct identity separate from Alliance Paladin orders.
In Their Own Story
High Commander D'ore stands before the altar in the Blood Knight Temple, the white marble gleaming under the eternal glow of the Sunwell. Her gauntlets hum with holy energy, a stark contrast to the dark magic that once haunted her people's dreams. She closes her eyes, feeling the warmth of the Light seep into her veins, no longer a desperate hunger but a steady resolve. Outside, the wind howls through Silvermoon's spires, carrying whispers of war, but within these walls, there is only peace and purpose.
Reader's Guide
The Blood Knights serve as the elite martial arm of Silvermoon City, dedicated to protecting Quel'Thalas from external threats and internal corruption. Historically led by Lady Liadrin, the order acts under the guidance of the Sunfury hierarchy and the Council of Six. Their primary goal remains the preservation of their people against the lingering effects of mana addiction and demonic influence. Membership is restricted primarily to Sin'dorei, though they occasionally accept allies who swear oaths to the Sunwell. They function as Paladins within the Horde war effort, providing holy magic support and frontline combat prowess distinct from Alliance counterparts due to their unique cultural history with fel energy. In the ongoing conflicts across Azeroth, Blood Knights stand at the vanguard of Silvermoon's defense. They patrol the Ghostlands and Quel'Thalas, hunting down remnants of the Scourge and Illidan’s forces. Their presence ensures that the Light remains a tool for redemption rather than destruction among the elves.
